Normal Idle After High Speed Run?
Hello all...brought home a '95 XL CC F350 7.3 Auto 4.10 240,000 miles. Drove it from North of Denver to way East Texas Sunday/Monday, total of 20 hours on the road. No real problems, fuel mileage varied from 15/16 mpg with some Metro Denver and freeway driving, with 2 tanks doing 20.5 mpg. No problem in the mountains or on the freeway, pulled great. Nice truck, good interior, even the A/C works!
I did just a couple of things before hitting the road with the truck. It had a tiny thermostat gasket leak that was ez to fix, and I changed out the air and fuel filters before we got going.
What has me curious is the way it idles down after a long highway run. After coming to a stop it gets real quiet for second or two, goes back to making normal CLAKCLAKCLAKCLAK, does it again a time or two, then settles into a normal idle at what looks to be about 600 RPM in gear. Not sure if this is normal operation or not??
Thanks all...

Reason: Change truck description to include trans.
