Engine Lope/Smoke
I posted this on 911, and afterwards tought maybe I should have placed it here instead....It started last week. It got cool outside and since my glow plugs are shot, I had to plug my truck in overnight. She started good but as i headed down the street, the engine started losing power, as if to be running out of fuel, it was pouring a lot of white smoke out of the pipe. I kept it revved up with a foot on the brake & when I got on the highway, everything was fine. However, it progressively got worse over the next few days and i had a day to investigate. I changed the fuel filter and started the truck..it ran for about a minute & then started running rough and died.the fuel bowl was very low when i changed the filter, and no other fuel was pumped into the bowl afetr the idle time. I suspected fuel pump and replaced it. After a long restart, it fired, but sounded much quieter, something wasn't right, just couldn't tell what. I gave it gas, and it revved up, ran rough as if down a cylinder, and poured staedy white smoke out of the exhaust. When i took my foot of the gas, it died almost instantly. That's what I have. I need it for work, 135 miles roundtrip, and have the day off tomorrow to try and get it fixed up. Thanks to any suggestions that any of you may have. Oh, and...glad to be part of y'alls forum! Kevin
