Rebuild ?????
I just picked up a 97 7.3 for my 97. The fellow said it ran fine and did not smoke. He had never modded the engine in any way. The engine according to him has 210,000 miles on it.
With that number of miles I'm struggling with whetherI should just stick it in the truck or "refresh it" to some degree. Any advice from folks with experience opening these up would be appreciated. |

Just wondering but your sig says your motor only has 132,000miles on it. how come you are putting in a 210,000 mile motor.
as for that motor you can check the compression if it aint all that great you can rip it down check the ring lip in the cylinders and possible just re-ring it and put it together again. |

Blew that one up. Had what I like to call catastrophic failure. Too many reasons to go into.

That sucks mine had really low compression readings so im still in the process of rebuilding her .030 over. a 3-4 weeks project has now turned into a 9 week nightmare.

Sorry to hear that. I replaced the truck a year ago with a dodge(price was right) of all things so time is not an issue.
