running rough/ sputter
I have a 97 350 7.3 4x4. I had a bad rear tank so i replaced it. now i have a sputter in the engine.
The rear tank stated to go dry so i switched it to the front tank. The sputter stopped. Now when i accelerate i get the sputter again (not that bad but noticeable) at about 20 mph-35 mph and 1500 rpm- about 2200 rpm. i replaced the fuel filter today, checked the tanks vents, and it has new gas caps and it still does it! Any suggestions of what to look for now? Thanks |

do you have a fuel pressure gauge? if it has a good pump and new filter and has lower than normal fuel pressure or acts like it is running out of fuel under any load it could be the screen in the pick-up tube in the tank.

I agree check your fuel pressure. Should be min of 30 psi @ wot. If that is okay then install a piece of clear hose on the return from the fuel filter and look for air bubbles with it running at idle.

Well i think i have solved my problem (as he says this with egg on his face!) I was at my friends house yesterday and he threw the truck on his scanner. His found a code that mine missed. It said the cam sensor! Replaced it today and so far so good!
So thanks for all the advise and the help!! |
