95 F350 wont run
I posted this in another forum, but thought I would try here also. Sorry for double posting just trying to get this dang thing running.
Ok here is what we have; 95 F350 4x4 stock. Problem is it won't keep running. Sometimes it will start and run as long as you keep the RPM's up above idle. Most of the time it will start run for 10-15sec, check engine light comes on and engine dies. Then you must let it set for atleast 30min and it will do the exact same thing. It will though start and run on wd-40 for a few sec at any point. This truck has set for 4yrs just an FYI. Now for what we have checked or replaced CPS replaced, tach is moving and works when engine is running IDM replaced by known good IDM dropped front fuel tank, cleaned it, put fresh #1 fuel into it Cleaned fuel filter housing replaced fuel filter cleaned FPR screen fresh oil and oil filter topped of HPOP resevoir has good fuel pressure has good oil pressure both HPOP and LPOP checked #22 fuse wait to start light is working glow plugs are working 2 new batteries New alternator have disconnected IPR/ still won't start made sure the nut on the FPR is not loose Went and talked to the mechanic that replaced the HPOP shortly before it was parked he thinks it is PCM. Now the reason it was parked 4 yrs ago is as follows. CPS was going bad and the oil cooler assembly had a leak. We fixed those but in the process the pressure relief/regulator valve fell out of the oil filter housing. We put it back together but forgot the spring. So it was left setting due to not being able to work on it. We took it back apart a few months ago and put the spring back in the pressure relief/regulator assembly. It then would'nt start, we pulled passenger side valve cover to check for oil pressence on injector's and the engine started. We shut it off, replaced valve cover it started again, drove it into drive way, let it run 30-45 min while turning it off and restarting it. After 30-45 min we shut it off went back to start it a hr or so later and that is when this no start prob started.(no pun intended) Any ideas of what maybe happening. I just hate to keep throwing money at this. One problem is it is on a farm with no mechanins around to take a look with a scanner. I hate to spend $300.00 to have it towed just to find out it is a $50.00 fix that I can do. Hope I have gave enough info to help. Thanks |
