wont idle on its own at cold start up

96 psd after its started it just wants to die out on its own, i have to keep the throttle down a bit to help it , then after the alternator kicks in its a tad better but still have to help it for about 2 minutes after that then it will idle by itself, this happens when its cold on first start up if i shut it off and restart it when its warm its fine no mods 290,000 mi
