When ever I shift or push in the clutch and let off the throttle below ~1500 rpm, the rpm will surge about 100 rpm 2 or 3 times. It has done it, since I have owned it. Otherwise the engine runs good. Could this be a characteristic/normal?
Oil level is good, installed a new CPS a few weeks after I purchased the truck, no oil in the IPS, rebuilt the IPR, new injectors, new turbo, tried it with chip removed, new remand IDM and tested the engine harness from the IDM to each injector; the rpm still surges. I'm thinking maybe the PCM code or hardware? I'm going to try and run it by the local Ford diesel mechanic. That has been like trying to get past the guards to speak to the king.
It could be the BPS. Barometric Pressure Sensor. It's under the dash, very easy to replace. It caused my lugging at stops and extremely hard shifts. Being a manual I bet it's causing your lower rpm when you let off the pedal.
Hmm, I don't know much about the Baro sensor. I will look into testing it, since I don't have a P0107 error code (barometric pressure out of range). Thanks
So you are saying the rpm surge/romp stopped when you installed a chip? Mine surges with no chip, a previously installed TS6 w/Swamp's tunes and currently with the Hydra and PHP tunes.
I haven't really noticed it with the chip installed.
Running the hydra with php tunes also.
Normally would only happen after accelerating then quickly pushing in the clutch.
I have now also replaced the hpop and ipr. So that could be a part of it.
I'm using the 80 DD tune, 80 is the max for my PCM code. I will be ordering a hot custom tune in the near future, when I do, I plan on talking to Jay about the surge. I'm happy with and don't need more than the 80 DD. I want to use the hotter tune to careful acid test the system for weaknesses close to home versus out west.
As for the HPOP, the only time I would get a P1211 code is a long roll on with Swamp's extreme tune. I rebuilt the IPR about 8,000 miles ago when I installed the new injectors last April. Then, the pump and each bank held ~3,400 psi. I have never had a code with the PHP tunes.
