Different size tires

Quick question. I know that its not good to use different size tires and all that but I put my winter wheels on yesterday and drove it today and the ride was rougher then hell. So I examined all the tires and the back two were completely shot and rough. So I put my AR wheels with dick cepeks back on the back.
The problem is the Dick Cepeks are a mere inch larger then the firestones in the front. The firestones appear to be 30.5" while the Cepeks are 31.5". Also the cepeks are a couple inches wider. Is this one inch height difference hard on the transfer case? It is 4 wheel drive and has auto locking hubs so I imagine the front driveshaft is always spinning. Thanks for the replies.

Thanks a lot man. Ive been too scared to drive anywhere since I read this. Everywhere else they said not to do it even if theres just a different amount of tread.

The front driveshaft only spins in 4HI and 4LO. That's what the transfer case shifter does.
