auto locking hubs???

whats the protocol for greasing the auto locking hubs? 96 with 135000, and when i engage the 4 wheel it has a slight popping sound. truck sat for a good year and a half before i got it. think this will help? thx

I'd bet that the popping sound is coming from the double cardan u-joint just off the transfer case. If I was a betting man, I'd count on replacing the two u-joints and the yoke. That's what I had to do.

I disassemble my hubs and lube them with a light grease. I would be willing to bet your axle shaft u-joints need replaced.

97 F250 Xlt, built E4od, D60 swap, Baby swamps, tunes by Dp
1.0 housing w/ wwII, 203* t-stat, diy 6637, 4" exhaust
Diy intercooled, 6.0 fan, Diy 140v Idm, Isspro Ev gauges
On board air, E-fuel, 6" lift on 35's
322000 miles
