Hub repair?

My 1996 f350 has had a strange grinding sound from the front. I think I have narrowed it down to a failing locking hub. Manual lock. What are the chances that all I need is to clean and lube the parts. Does anyone have a diagram of how it goes together? The ford dealer says I must replace the $280 hub. Thanks

I took my hub apart and it was toast. Bearings dry and worn. I replaced both sides with new Warn hubs. Easy instal unfortunately did not solve my problem. I am going to look at drag link? If SVranger 25 would like the springs from my old hubs I think they may still be OK. You can have them if you let me know where to send them.
