possibly simple answer.
1995 Ford E350, 7.3 turbo with the e4od. This is an X uhaul van, that i have turned into a toy hauler to haul the race bike.. When i first purchased the vehicle, the transmission was bad. The gentleman i bought it from spoke, that when he first got it, that the transmission was slipping, but he would still use it. The after about 6 months the trans went out, and he parked it.. I have since then purchased it, and finally got around to swapping out the trans. The e4od that was in it, was dead. no gears at all. Now, i went to the junkyard (yes i know, bash now lol), and got a trans out of a truck that had been crashed. The trans on the outside looks BRAND NEW. I went ahead and replace the rear seal altho, there was no visible sign of any leakage. No seal driver so i didnt the front. I also, pulled the pan, completely drained all the fluid, and replaced the filter and installed a new pan gasket. This trans came with a torque convertor. But the trans i had pulled out, had a remanufactured sticker on it and the convertor looked brand new.. So i drained it, filled it with diesel fuel, let set for few minutes, drained, and repeated.. After this, i pulled the drain plug, and let it set for 2 days to be sure to drip out EVERY last bit of liquid out. I put 2 qrts of fluid into the convertor, and installed on the trans. Put the trans in the van, and filled with 14 qrts. That is a total of 16. I started the van and let idle for about 5-10 minutes. Upon getting ready to test it out, i noticed the over drive light flashing. I put it in reverse and reverse seems to be perfectly strong. I dont have alot of space behind it to back up far, but it seemed to want to drive across the scotch. Put it in forward and NOTHING at all.. Nothing in low, 2nd, drive or od and the overdrive light is still flashing.. I have pulled the cables and reset the computer and still nothing. Any ideas, before i pull my hair out?
Is there a possibility of the torque convertor being bad? if so i have another i can swap it with. Or is the tranny dead?
Sorry for the long post, but i wanted to explain in detail, as to possibly get a easier, less aggrivating response from the professionals as you all..
Thanks
