97 Powerstroke 4x4 part needed
I took my 97 PSD into my mech today. My front driveshaft was fubbared in terms of I think its a cv joint? its the double U joint piece that my regular ujoints attach into. My mech said it wasn't safe to run it as that piece was so gone. When he got onto the truck and started saying "Oh ****" I got worried. So anyway how do I go about getting one of these pieces or even what are they called?

on the front driveshaft, no CV joints are used. it is a single cardan u-joint.
If you have a double cardan, like this picture: ![]() Then that is not stock. If you just need a new U-joint, press it out, and replace it. A front u-joint being bad wouldnt necessarily be "unsafe" since it only rotates in 4WD. If you would like to replace the u-joint, refer to this: How to Replace a U-Joint | AutoMD But t would be nice to have more info. some pictures of the affected component would be nice. |
