Front axle u joint dana 60
Tried to do a search didnt come up with much on replacing front u joints. I am in the process of of doing the ball joints and front u joint on a 96 f350 4x4 and was wondering what I have to do to get the axles out. Ive got most of the hub off and just have to get the spindle off. This is the first time Ive done this so I am learning on the fly any tips or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks

To pull your axles you need to remove diff cover and remove locks and then you can pull axles. The axle seals are inside of tubes if you chose to replace, but they are pressed in from the inside.

just did mine, its a pain in the butt. The best way I feel is a sludge hammer and a scrap piece of wood on the spindle but be careful of the treads on the end. If your careful after the spindle breaks free, support the axle with your hand and pull it out. the drivers side is very easy to remove, the passenger side is a little tougher since the axle weighs more and is longer. you only have to worry about the seals for the first 2-3 inches. when you put them in center them in the axle tube and be aware of the seals and you'll be fine. and another trick after you take the knuckle off remove the lower snap ring on the ball joint, place the knuckle face down on a block and beat the crap out of the lower ball joint with a sludge and once it "un-seats" from the knuckle use a ball joint press to push it all the way out. then the upper ball joint will come out with just the ball joint press. all 4 ball joints took about 15 mins to change (old ones out and new ones pressed in)
