DANA 60 QUESTION
DID FORD EVER RUN 3:73 GEARS IN A F350? I"M LOOKING AT A DANA 60 FROM A 95 F350 AND THE GUY SAID IT HAD 3:73GEARS. I THOUGHT IT WAS EITHER 4:10 OR 3:55. I PLAN ON CHECKING WHEN I GO LOOK AT IT, JUST WANTED TO KNOW SOME FACTS BEFORE I GO. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD LOOK FOR? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE HELP.

It should be stamped on the little tag that's held on by two of the diff cover hold down bolts. At least that's how mine was. Said 4.10 (meaning 4:10's, clearly) on one part of it.
As far as I know, Ford only offered 3:55's or 4:10 in the OBS trucks. |

they only offered 4.10 and 3.55s in the obs generation
they did put 3.73s in super duty f350s with dana 60s |

THANKS FOR THE QUICK ANSWERS. I DIDN'T THINK THEY OFFERED 3:73. ILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT I FIND ONCE I LOOK AT IT. ANY OTHER THINGS TO LOOK FOR BESIDES THE USUAL BALL JOINTS AND TIE ROD ENDS? THANKS AGAIN.

So i ended up buying that dana 60. The tag on covers says 3.54. Is that the same as 3:55? i got a really good deal on so i dont mind swapping gears but it seems weird to offer a 355 and a 354.

3:55/3:54 they're basically the same dang thing lol. I think all the trucks that had those gears came that way. But on the 4:10 trucks, both axles were 4:10. But I've read plenty of times that that's just the way the OBS 60's were.

It will work, someone once explained it to me, you want the front wheels to spin slightly faster for better traction or something like that, its really not enough to even notice, little suggestion, if you got the $$ and plan on keeping the truck, replace all of the ball joints ans seals while you have the thing on the ground

I'm glad to hear i don"t have change gears. I ended up buying the front section of the frame. it was complete with steering, track bar, and even the sway bar. the only down side is the backing plates missing due to rust. are the outer hubs interchangeable between the ttb and the 60? I just did ball joint, tie rid end pad and rotors on my ttb.
ryandamo, did you do a rsk when you did your? what springs and shocks did you use? |

I used 4 inch rough country suspension springs + shocks since my stock ones were shot. dont recomend it though it rides like sh%$, I plan on doing super duty springs + RSK in the future. The hubs wheel, wheel bearings, and 4x4 hubs are all interchangeable between the D50

My Jeep has 4.10's in the rear and 4.11's in the front (aftermarket); so it's not just a Ford thing I guess.
