Throttle Position Sensor

Does anyone know of an alternative to replacing the throttle pedal assembly when a throttle position sensor shoots craps? It's a crying shame to pay $440 for an entire assembly when the sensor fails. Is there a way of fixing a sensor?

Thanks

throttle pedal assembly

call a Ford Parts Dept and ask for the price of the pedal assembly. Ford does not sell the throttle position sensor separately.

So I have a 95 F250 7.3 Turbo Diesel and I believe mt TPS sensor is going. I went to Napa and Car Quest and they can't seem to find the part. So I went to the Ford Dealer and he said that the TPS sensor for my truck is no longer being made because they have had problems with it so in models from 94-03 you have to replace the entire pedal assembly and Summit Ford told me they could get it for me for $800!!!!! I am slightly frustrated and would like to know where can I get a pedal assembly for less (i could not find it at Rocky's) and do I really have to get it. Thanks

throttle position sensor replacement

I found the throttle position sensor at Advance Auto Parts (Houston) for about $56. O'Reilly also had it for about the same price. I actually bought the complete assembly, installed it then discovered that the sensor could be purchased separately. It sure pays to look around for the best deal.

I found the cheap sensors too but they are the new style that does not fit the old style bracket. Can the old style tps sensors be rebuilt? Or how do I get the pedal assembly for $250? Still outrageous but better than the $800 that they want to charge me at the Ford Dealership.

replacement throttle position sensor

I found my part at Advance Auto parts for $58.98. Here is the entry on my receipt: (1st line) ACC PEDAL POS SENSOR DO 20705180
(2nd line) 699200

O'Reilly also had the part for a few bucks less. The new parts done the job for about 2 months now. There is absolutely no reason to buy the entire pedal assembly.

Hope this helps,

Eric
