Maybe some plastics but it comes in a plastic bottle so I wouldn't think it would hurt most plastics. I know it's used alot to strip the paint off of model cars and trains. When I was painting my side vent inserts black before I did the mesh ones I soaked them in brake fluid and it didn't hurt them. Maybe try the acetone first. I let mine soak in acetone and still had a hard time getting them off. My '00 badges cleaned up alot easier.
