How is it running now? My truck has dropped from 15 to about 13.5 in th past 3 years. Have you added a chip or tuner? I feel like mine is from degrading injectors. You may want to get it scanned for codes and get your injectors checked.

It could be from any number of things.

If it goes gradually it is just something you need to get on top of. If it goes fast there is a bigger issue.

Hey tjazz, welcome to powerstroke, how did you make out with your millage issue. Were you doing the millage calculations by hand?

Gord.

If you noticed it recently there are 2 major factors that I've seen IN my OWN truck (I've documented every drop of diesel that's gone in it for the past 30+ thousand miles).

Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel - less energy per unit volume then LSD = takes more fuel to go the same distance.

and

Winter Blend Fuel - less energy per unit volume compared to summer blend fuel. Once again = takes more fuel to go the same distance.

well i started using lucas oil fuel treatment and it gained from 12 to 16.5 mpg (that hwy and city mixed)Im doing calulations by hand. i probily will pick up more if i go all hwy miles. hopfuly i find out soon if will do any better on the hwy. so far im impressed with the lucas oil fuel treatment. i would recomend it to everybody to try it. Next thing im going to try is the power source cetane booster (diesel clean w/cetane booster) to see if i gain some more. ill let you guys know what happens.

im sure glad i found this site . Im a big fan of the power stroke engines. Its the best truck i ever bought (w/ the power stroke).

Tony

Check for leaks. I had what looked like a small leak, about one drop every 5 seconds. Mileage went from 18 to 7.5MPG.
