I have done this before, MUST BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH ANY OTHER POSTS!!! This takes two people. Have someone sit in the drivers seat. you take a medium size screwdriver and touch the two LARGE terminals together with the screwdriver. (I can not stress enough DO NOT TOUCH THE SMALLER TERMINALS you will fry the PCM) hold it there for about 10 secs, after that keep it there and have who ever is in the drivers seat crank it over. When it starts take the screwdriver out. Make sure you are holding onto the plastic part of the screwdriver because it will get hot!!

Before I do the screwdriver trick, here is what I metered awhile ago. I have battery power on one large terminal. I placed the other probe on the other large terminal and turned on the ingition. The voltage dropped to .43 and then something clicked and the voltage jumped back to 12.something. Does that tell us anything?

that means you have a .43 voltage drop across the relay. Ford's spec. is .02 volts max. replace the relay. Although if you have had it plugged in it should start, with only that much voltage drop. When it did start did it run ok? Was there a lot of blue or white smoke?

Yesterday when it started, I didn't notice any unusual smoke. I'll get another relay and I assume it will connect just like the old one?

Thanks to everyone who responded. I got a new relay, installed it, and the truck fired right up. As of now, things are fine. Cold tomorrow morning so I suppose that will tell the tale. Y8
