Black cloud

The truck is a 2008, 6.4 F250 when I got it 27,000 miles, it now has 40,000 and has been getting regular scheduled maintenance.

I Believe I have a Black Cloud over my head I went to get new camper and my truck Broke down (Green Wrench, emergency shutoff) while hauling old camper. 5 weeks it has been sitting at a dealership waiting to get it into the shop. To top it off my knee got hurt! 3 weeks later a infection occurred, which involved emergency surgery over easter weekend.

Got phone call from the dealership today (they finally got it in last Friday) they said there was "metal & rust in fuel system, from pump to injectors, they said it has been going on for a while. They are tell ing me $10,000 - 12,000 to fix it.

Is this a realistic price?, What are my options? I know there are smart people on this forum, I joined as soon as I got the truck, answer would be appreciated.

Unforturnatly, yes it's a realistic price, pretty much every fuel system component must be replaced, the last job I did ran about 13-14k. I charge 35-40 hours depending on a few variables, I.E Broken/Stuck cab bolts.

Fuel system components to be replaced when rust/corrosion is found
in the ITP inspection:

High Pressure Pump assy, High Pressure Pump gasket kit, High pressure pump-to fuel rail manifold, fuel lines, Fuel Cooler assembly, Fuel Injectors (All 8 must be replaced),LH and RH Fuel Rail Manifold, Fuel Filter kit, Fuel Pressure Sensor, Fuel supply line, Secondary fuel filter housing.

The HFCM is to be inspected and replaced if there is visible metal debris in the HFCM
during filter replacement or visible metal debris in the fuel tank.

Fuel system components to be flushed and re-used when rust/corrosion is found in
the ITP inspection:

NOTE: Low pressure lines are to be flushed unless rust is found within the line. Rust
inside a low pressure line requires line replacement.
