Rear Brakes

i replaced the rear brakes on my 04 F250 yesterday, after about 20 miles, i get a clicking/clunking coming from the rear of the truck. the sound increases with speed. i checked over everything this morning and cant find anything wrong with the brakes.

this is my first brake job on an f 250 but i have done several others in the past, and the truck is completely stock

Did you put new rotors on too? Did you put on new e-brake pads? Sometimes you can get rust chunks in the e-brake drum that will clunk. I tried to replace my e-brake and ended up tearing it out cause it was so hard to get the new springs in.

Did you clean the rotors with brake cleaner before hand. If not the preservative used on them to prevent them from rusting on the shelf. This coating which is like a grease if not removed prior to installing the rotors can cause a lot of things to happen, clunking, poor braking, that stuff when it gets warm from braking gets goey. Then it builds up on the pads.
