911 suggestion

Guys,

How about we set up PM's to go out to all members in the state where someone is broken down? Have it go automatic once the post is complete?

That is a great idea, although it isn't available as a standard feature within the software. I'm sure it could be done with some programming, although we'll have to discuss whether this is something that we would undertake.

I know that the members that are very active on here. Usually know who to contact with in an area when someone posts a 911 repair posting. Especially if someone is brokedown on the side of the road.

Heck back when the chatroom was used daily by 12 or more members. You don't even want to know how many recoveries were done through there. Someone would post up a 911 repair posting. The next thing you know the chatroom turned into a dispatched center. With members stating they contacted this person or that person. Before we knew it a member was there lending a helping hand.

I know I was involved with a few of those. But like I said usually when someone posts up they need help and are broke somewhere. Pm's from other members go to the members in that area.

As for an automatic system, I think what would happen is a lot of pm's going out with very little response because pm's are only good when members are online to respond to them.

There was talk at one time about a phone book being made up. Now what ever happened to that I do not know. But back then there were only about 15,000 members.

I think there should be a voluntary phone book. You'd have to be willing to help someone in need in order to get a copy of the book. That way the ones who don't mind helping someone will also get help if they ever need it.
