Help-6.0 - Hard Starting - if at all

2005-F250-CrewCab 6.0 58,000 miles - Used Vehicle - third Owner

I read that my problem could be the ICP Sensor ot the STC fitting,
I am having problems where it is difficult to start,
Friday evening, it would not start at all and had to tow it home.
Then the next morning it started.
Can anyone give me an Idea would or where to figure out my issue?
ANy help thanks, I am new to diesels.

The truck is still under warranty, however,
Previous owner had a Hypertech Programmer or Power tuner
in the truck and then had it reset to factory,
will this still void the warranty??

Tom

Ok,,, hard starting when the truck is cold, hot, both? Is it cranking, slow cranking? or cranking fine but not starting up? Any codes pulled? It could be a myriad of different things based on the info presented. We will need more information to help you out.

Providing it's a 6.0....If it starts cold, but not hot, but stays running after started...until shut off, The U can usually rule out Crank Sensor...and fuel filter.... But U are gettting low Oil pressure on the High pressure pump @ start up codes, Then U may need new oil Log o rings....

I wouldnt rule out the CPS. Mine was having similar problems and then just died and wouldnt start no matter what. I changed several things and finally changed the CPS and now it runs like a champ

I agree sound like the CMP, But with out codes you could be shooting in the dark. But One should always carry a Spare CMP anyway, It only take ten minutes to change and it is a common enough problem, I keep one in the truck along with a 10mm wrench.

Which motor is that? cause the 6.0 cam and crank sensors suck to change.

on t444e or 7.3L PSD, I have not had to change one on the 6.0 yet, but thanks for the heads up on that because I now have 3 of them in my fleet.

no, but the cam sensor is in the left hand side of the block right by the power steering pump. and the crank sensor is on the right hand side in about the same area of the block. The good thing is that the only problems i've seen with them is the o-rings failing and resulting in an oil leak. And yes the o=rings are serviced separately from Ford
