Head Gasket?

I think ive got a blown head gasket. theres dried coolant around the cap, truck was puking whiteish grey smoke with hard accelaration. butfirst there was a cloud of black smoke. I am 500 miles from my house too. First ofall, are there any codes that would show if itwas a head gasket? I have the banks PDA in my truck and that says there are no codes... Also, is my truck going to get me back? its an 06 F250 powerstroke. 36.500 miles. Any other things this could be?

Thumbs up 6.0

you can put it on a scan tool and find a code.but it sounds like a injector is going bad.
but find a scan tool.

I have a scanner on my tuner but its not picking up on any codes which makes me feel ok about it but its still a bit concerning that its blowing white smoke when it used to be black. Is there an easy test/fix for the EGR cooler? Definatly a wierd problem though because it seems to have become intermittent. It was puking about a week ago, stoped, than started puking again today. I drive 50-100miles a day highway so it doesnt sit either.

Yeah if you have lost your power and it shutters when you give it throttle Id start with the EGR valve. Its prob hung open. If thats the case then you can repair/rig it enough to get you home.
