06 won't start
I have an 06 250SD w/19,800 miles. I made a spare key for my truck, but not from Ford. (I forgot that I needed to get it from Ford). This morning I went out to start the truck using the spare key and the truck would not start. It acted like the batteries were dead or dying. The temp this morning was 27 to 29 degrees with a 15 to 20mph North wind. I tried my factory key after I tried the spare but now the truck won't even click. The radio however plays loud like the batterries are fine. ANY ideas?

It definately is a battery/starter or wiring problem as stated above....having enough juice to crank a diesel over is very important...and weak batteries or loose connections will cause a no start.... |

Thanks a bunch for the quick responses! I checked the battery terminals on both batteries and thay are tight. I had suffered from that problem on another vehicle before. I have only had the truck since Sept 06 and find it hard to beleive the batteries are that weak. I drove the truck yesterday and it started and ran fine. I have noticed several times in the past six months or so that the truck will act like the batteries are not that strong when I go out and start it up, but this has occured when the weather was warm also. Could the batteries be weak/bad and with the cold weather (for Florida) I just need to get new ones? My 01 250 SD didn't give me this much problem in the 5yrs I had it.

also make sure to have your Altenator tested because an under or over charging altenator can take batteries out. One bad battery could cause the other one to fail as well. If one of the batteries has a bad cell it could be causing your whole problem... |

Took the truck to FORD and they replaced the dead battery. Truck fired right up. Thanks to everyone that gave their two cents.
