Electrical - Back from Afghanistan

Hey guys, Im needing to leave to visit family in 3 days and my truck is giving me problems. I just returned from a deployment and Im really tight on time.

Truck is a 99 F-250 7.3l

I just had new batteries installed as well.

The issue:

When my truck is parked and turned off, it drains the battery completely. When I drive it, if my rpms drop below 1000, the battery also starts to drain and simple driving around town will result in a dead battery and a stranded me.

Any ideas?

Appreciate your time.

I would grab a volt meter and start poking around. Check the voltage coming off the alternator stud, and compare that to the voltage you are getting at the batteries. If alternator voltage, and battery voltage are within a half volt of each other, I would start looking into a short. Have you added anything electrical to the truck? CB radio, fog lights, stereo, etc. etc.
