2004 Excursion 4x4 Drivers side Front squeel
Tired of throwing lawn darts. I need expert help from you guys.
Problem was originally thought to be the bad bushings on the trackbar from pulling and vibration. Replaced and nothing really changed.
The next problem started about 2 months ago with a screeching squeal from the front of the vehicle. It was like listening to someone scratch their fingernails on a chalk board. As you sped up it got louder and louder, and then was still apparent but not as loud at 60mph. Thought I may have hung some dust or other irritant under the brake pads. Cleaned the rotors and examined the pads and they seemed fine. Squeal went away for a few weeks.
Squeal came back again, so I pulled the tires off of both sides and closely examined the pads and rotors to not see a problem. When I turned the hub assembly I couldn't hear or feel anything either.
A few days later the truck gets a major vibration and clunk sound when breaking. By the time I made it home 4 lug studs were sheared off, and the other 4 were slightly on there. ( My brother suggested I simply didn't tighten all the lug nuts down) (Could very well have not seated my tire on correctly and artificially tightened them.)
From here I thought my bearing might be bad. I pulled it and it spins freely, and wasn't dry, plenty of grease. Needle bearing has grease as well. No noise coming from the u joints, but when you spin the shaft you can hear a metal on metal rubbing noise where the shaft goes into the differential.
Also, my ESOF hasn't worked since I bought the vehicle last February, and for several months now there has been a clunking when I turn left or right, and sometimes if I'm driving straight in a pasture that's rough.
Any links, advice or pics will be greatly appreciated.
