Bad shifting/ loss of power?

I was driving at the Job site today in my 1997 F-250 and I started having a shifting problem. Every time it shift it's very rough and jerks me, and it sits around high RPM's before It shifts. Last time I had my truck inspected it was recommended that I get my Gear Box tightened up. Would that possibly be the cause of this? And I was driving home and when I turned my lights on, my dash lights wouldn't come on and my doors wouldn't lock when I tried to the lock them. I believe I checked all of the fuses in the truck, unless I drooled and missed one. But none of them were burnt out, any ideas?
