7.3 powerstroke power steering fluid in air filter box?
I was driving my 7.3 powerstroke, 1999, and it stalled. I had been hearing a clicking noise on the driver's side, near the air intake. After the noise became a little louder, the truck stalled out. I immediately checked under the hood and there was power steering fluid on top of the air intake box, some inside of the box, and splashed around. I do not notice any breaks or leaks so I'm not sure what happened or where to start. Any helps is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

There is a PS hose that commonly rubs on the shock mount. Look over the top of the tire for the bracket that goes from the fraimrail to the top of the shock. On the back side of that bracket the hoses there can chafe through.
You might not see the leak without having someone else turn the steering wheel to pressurize the hose. Not sure what that would have to do with stalling or clicking though..... |
