Exclamation 95 PSD is misbehaving

My 95 PSD (stock, no mods, AOD dually)was running fine until today. Driving along, and it cuts off when the check engine light comes on. Pull off, won't start. Check engine light stays on when ignition is turned on. (before cranking over). Sets for a few, turns over, won't statrt. Turn ignition on, check engine light is off, starts fine, shut hood, put in drive, press the throttle, she dies. AARRGHHH. tried a few more times, called tow. Truck going up rollback, i turn the key on, engine light is flickering(truck at 35 deg angle on rollback). get towed home, truck comes off rollback, starts fine, idles great, then cuts off. no start. gave up. help. please. By the way, this is my first post, and you guys here on the forum are great. any help would be app.

DEfinately check the cam sensor. Does the tach move when you crank it?? If not. I would put a cam sensor in it. Get one from Ford. I am running one for a 99 7.3 in mine. I have had it in there about 3k and so far no problems. They are about 25 bucks for the newrer ones compared to 150bucks for the old ones. Good luck

Thanks....

I will replace the cps tomorrow. The tach barely moves, just jumps a tiny bit if it moves at all. Will advise of the outcome of the cps. Thank you guys so much for the quick response and the info. Have looked at a few other forums, this one is by far the best. THANKS!!!!

Dude I don't understand why the CPS goes out so much, but I also carry a spare, and use it too often. I found a great link on this site that helped me install it in under an hour. Good luck!

I would also check for codes since you had a check engine light

Red face You guys are awesome.....

Thanks to all who responded to my 911. The tutorial link was a great help. Replaced in about 15 minutes, and she runs like a raped ape. I guess maybe the CPS may have been iffy since the day i got the truck, cuz she purrs like a kitten now. don't know if that's possible, but thanks to you guys for the quick response! I will certainly carry a spare....can't beat the peace of mind for only 30$.
