95 7.3 powerstroke needs help

HI i have a 1995 f-250 powerstroke. I needed to replace the fuel pump because it was leaking on top o the intake. At first i thought it was just the rubber lines rotted but i replace them, all and it still leaked. I got a new, not rebuilt pump, had to remove the filter resoivor to put it on. I had to break the 2 fuel lines on the front of the reso, took out the 2 bolts that held it in place and disconnected the lines between it and the pump. I installed the new pump with new crush rings where the fuel line bolts onto the back. and reassembled the entire assembly. I then refilled the resovoir with new fuel, put the filter back in and put the top on. When i went to crank it, it will turn over, i am getting good fuel, i bled it at the bleed valve and got a little air out but not much. You can crank it on wd40 and make it run for a second but when you stop spraying it , it quits running. Any ideas what has happened. Before i started putting the new pump on it ran perfect but had a leak.

1995 F-250 Powerstroke XLT
311,000 miles
totalled out 2 times rebuilt both times
In body shop 7 times for major body work none of which was my fault

sounds like it still has air in system. when i put one on my 96 i had same symptoms. like you i sprayed wd-40 to make it run, after just a second or two it picked up the fuel and after a few minutes at high idle it runs fine still today..

ive bled and bled the system, i get a little squirt o air when i first hit the bleeder then straight fuel. Im letting it sit overnight and gonna try it again. Im almost positive its air also, i had a 89 7.3 that did vapor lock, took me 3 days to get it going again, but besides that it was best truck i ever owned, i sold it when it had 430,000 miles on it, the guy who bought it from me kept it 5 years and sold it when it had 570,000 on it, the guy he sold it to still has it today and said hes put at least another 100k on it. None of us have ever done any engine work onit, but it has had a tmission put in it at around 500k. Me and the second owner both kept a record log on it, which i passed to him, and he said he passed it to the 3rd guy, but not sure he kept it or not. But id have to say 650k+ on an 89 7.3 .410 gears, 5 speed, xlt lariat, single cab, aint bad.

Im wondering if it could possibly be the cam shaft sensor? Can unhooking the batteries and rehooking after doing the work i needed have shorted it out? I got shocked one time before by the glow plug relay while working on top of the engine ( you can weld with that thing) so i always disconnect the batteries when i work on engine. It almost acts as if its fueling at the wrong time.................also ive read about people putting in a sensor from a 99 7.3 ( cheaper) , does it fit without any mods? Ive had to replace the sensor 2 times in the past, but i dont think thats bad for 311,000 miles.

sounds like its air locked. if it ran b4 u took the fuel pump off and the only thing u did was put a new pump on it should crank. let er sit overnight and try it again in the mornin. when i pull the motor outta my truck i usually have to crank on it for like 10 minutes (on and off of course) then the next mornin ill crank on it for like another 5 minutes then itll run. when u get it runnin id recomend keepin it revved up to like 1500 rpms for a couple of minutes to make sure it self bleeds the rest of the air out of the system. and for the cam sensor id recommend one fo the international cps's(the blue ones), i know they r a lil expensive but it really help the way my truck runs. i have a smoother runnin motor and an all round better runnin motor. but thats jus my $.02
