Battery light
2001, 7.3 with 227K. Had a battery light, checked the charging system with a multimeter (amp clamp) and no ouput.....put a new alternator in. Battery light is still on. Not sure what is going on here. Is there an external voltage regulator or somthing? Any help is appreciated.

I forgot to mention....both batteries are new (Diehard gold).

I recently had access to an account on OnDemand5.com: online auto repair, estimating, and service information which gave a great troubleshooting procedure on how to diagnose this issue. The replacement alternator was also bad after the original failed so i simply went back to NAPA and they replaced it with a smile; no more issues

Is the cable coming from the alternator good? Double check all your connections, verify that the alternator is charging. When the truck is running, if you disconnect the batteries does it die?
