Need help in RI. 99 F350 7.3 idling poorly, no power

Recently my fathers truck started idling very powerly. It was followed with VEY low power. A shop downtown who says he "specializes" in ford diesels says that 4 of the injectors are clogged with carbon build-up inside. I bought some "Hot Shots" and put it in the oil, but it has so little power I can BARELY drive it on the road. It stalls in first gear!

Anyhow, I don't know what to do. This guy is quoting me $2,000 to replace four injectors. Is there anyone you guys recommend in RI/MA area? We're in farm country in Glocester. Should I try buying injectors from junk yards and putting them in there?

Also, what grade of oil should I be using? Right now we're using Rotella T, 15w-40, it says it's CJ-4 certified. Maybe I should be running Rotella T synthetic 5w-40 like I do in our Jetta's?

Please help!

401-919-3556 thank you!

I can think of 3 things to look at, if you haven't already.
Fuel filters. Air filter. Cam Position Sensor.
Check your filters!!!!
I'm not too sure about the carbon build-up inside injectors - maybe I'm wrong, though.

I appreciate the help guys. I'll look into it. How do I check the cam position sensor? What am I checking about it? Fuel filters/Air filters are fine.

Any good diesel mechanics in RI that you guys know of? I hate living in the northeast...

Btw, you guys have some beautiful trucks... Wish I had joined this sooner, but I've been busy with TDIclub. <3 my Jetta

but man, my moms Excursion is sweet. I'd trade the 30MPG difference that.

What oil should I use in this vehicle, and my moms Excursion? Is Rotella T synthetic 5w40 OK? I prefer using synthetic motor oil

Please help, dad needs this to get to work! He's a union carpenter and he's working with a decent company right now!

Are you getting any check engine lights or codes? Does it run better (or idle better) cold?
