Steering Box HELP!
well the splined shaft from the steering box to the pitman arm broke on my truck I need to buy a new gear box but how do I know if its a 32 or 36 spline shaft? I tried counting but the splines are F'd up and I couldnt count them. my truck is a 2000 Ford F350 XLT 4x4 ext cab long bed please help!

Get your VIN and call Ford...I think they can look up part numbers off the VIN.

Can you count the splines on the inside of the pitman arm? FWIW I have changed boxes on 2 different SD's and both were 36 splined.

|
build date before 3/99 is 32 spline, after including yours should be a 36 spline.

Also if you are replacing both steering box and pitman arm it doesn't matter as long as they are both the same.
