99 7.3 keeps blowing fuses.
heres what i have. truck keeps blowing the fuse for fuel pump fuel heater an it has a couple of more things powered off from it. i think the number of the fuse is 30 or 31 in the fuse pannel cant realy remember. have checked the wires on top of the engine down to the fuel pump cant find anything wrong with them.
you can putt in a new fuse an it might start an run for 2weeks or it might blow it as soon as you turn the key on to warm up the glow plugs. hope that someone can point me in the right direction here starting to get tired of this. well thanks for helping me out. tate |

blowing fuses
In any type of condition that blows fuses, you need to find out if the load is all the time or something going to a shorted condition once in awhile. They sell some very inexpensive mulity meters that will read amps. If I was to test this problem in my shop, I would get it warm so the onlt operating item is the fuel pump and read what amps it draws. If it is useing 8 amps or less? your fuel pump is more then likely ok, if it is pushing 10 or over you have a problem and it just might be water in the fuel, they make additives that will solve water conditions and fix the problem. If amps is low ? then you need to get a good wiring diagram and disconnect one item at a time untill you find which one is overloading the system. A wayto find it is to disconnect one item at a time and see if it stops blowing the fuses. When you hit the right one and the fuses stops blowing - fix that what ever it is. Mike OB
P.S. Maybe as Marc pointed out to me, I can give you a list of things that it might be and you can go buy them one at a time until you hit it. |
