Heres my problems the glow plug don't work, it idles very rough which lets up alittle if i push in the cluchte, or fev it up to above 900 it only idles about 600 rpm. there are no codes there was when i first got it but replaced cps and ok now no smoke either. Here is the deal truck is in great condition and i got it for free so any help would do. I replace the gpr also but i am not really worried about the unless the truck will run good if not i am willing to replace engine seeing i got such a deal on truck. It also does not have much power down hiway or acelerating i can run 70 but lucky if i can pull 50 on even a small hill

Hello Jessemac! Well I will try my best to help ya out, but just want ya to know Im not a diesel tech Does it idle rough even when its warm? Your glow plugs just aid in startup they don't serve any other purpose then that so they wouldn't be the cause of a poor idle. Start with the cheap things first. When is the last time you changed your fuel filter? What kind of oil are you using? Is it a diesel rated oil and is it old? Check for a boost leak coming off the compressor to your intake manifolds. Usually if you have a leak it will smoke all the time. Those are just some things to check. What kind of scanner did you use? Also it could be the harness under the valve covers coming loose or they got hot and burnt. Hope this helps. Also post this up in the engine 911 as the forum techs will see it and give you some help. We will get it figured out
_______Ok i have already done most all of the things u described I replaced both vavle cover gaskets and all wiring under both. The truck idles even when warm idle smooths out some what if i rev it up to about 1000 rpm, I was reading on here it could be due to the dual mass flywheel? I could not find no boost or intake leaks and the truck does not smoke at all, i replaced filters and oil today and runs alittle better down highway but does not have the power i believe it should. I knew about the glowplugs and are not a concern right now. Today I also notice when i cahnged my filter the bowl was empty and when i changed it the little wire that goes into the bottom of the bowl and comes out below the filter had come dissconnected any ideas what that is? When i relaced the filter and started it i noticed the drain for the fuel bowl was leaking so that must be the reason it was empty.

Sounds like ya missing a cylinder somewhere. Need to do injector buzz test and contribution test. To do these tests you need a diagnostic computer. If you do not have one or do not have access to one I recommend taking it to a shop let them do the diagnostics and then you repair the problems they find during the tests.

the idle situation is an Injection COntrol Pressure sensor or over all injection pressure problem...but you need to have a Buzz and contribution test done on it to eliminate the injectors as the problem. Thats where i would start like big country said
