OIL COMING OUT OF MY EXHAUST

I noticed yesterday evening that when I took off the pickup smoked white smoke after it was warm but then cleared up. This morning I started it up and it ran fine, I drove the 8 blocks to work and parked. An hour later I went out and there was oil leaking out of the muffler. It is black and oily and has made a large wet place under the muffler. It smoked again this morning and it hasn't been doing that. What could this mean?

Also, I have noticed in the past day or so a strong antifreeze smell?

I just checked again. Its not oil. I think its antifreeze with exhaust soot making it look like oil. Is this a headgasket? How far can I drive without hydro-locking it?

Well, it seems that it may not be a head gasket but is the EGR.

coolant would be a HG problem. EGR IIRC doesn't have any coolant flowing through it.

Well, I hate to tell you but it does and it was the EGR cooler. Had to replace the cooler and the lines. Flush the system and rework the turbo because it had coolant going thru it. But I got everything fixed now and its running great.

YEP, same issue on my 04, EGR Cooler went bad, the fins in the middle cracked and caused it to leak antifreeze into my exhaust. NASTY smell. White smoke, and puddles under the exhaust. pain in the *** to fix though. good luck
