The threads on the Baldwin mount/filters are 5/8"-18. I don't think that Hastings makes the Amsoil filters, but I'm not sure, either. Maybe Donelson. I've already ordered the mount, but I ordered the NAPA cross (Part #4755) from the local NAPA parts house. The parts man said that the Baldwin B50 crossed to a Napa Gold 1050 and that the Baldwin 164 (longer version) crossed to a Napa Gold 1704. He couldn't find anything on their efficiency, though. Just that, "since they cross reference that they should be just as efficient." I'm trying to check that out because I don't want to install a bypass filter for nothing! Also, the Baldwin filters have an oil flow restrictor needed to work as a bypass filter. I don't know if the NAPA filters do.
A local truck center said that they'd make up the lines for me. So, I'm on the way to having it all set up. I'm going to collect an oil sample tomorrow, when I do an oil/filter change. That should give me a good base number from which to judge this setup's value. Of course, I don't drive all that much, so it may take some time to make a comparison.
