I agree. We get a ton of snow with freezing temps where I live. I make a 60 mile each way trip through the canyon for work and have for the last 6 years...never needed chains once, just 4wd and good AT or MT tires.
But if you do want to buy chains just in case get some from Les Schwab. If you don't use them you can take them back at the end of the season for a full refund (their policy).
