There was a guy that used to post over on SDD or TDG that did that exact thing. In fact he used to brag about officially having the only ext cab short bed dually in the world
Anyway, it's been done before and to make things easier for you... see about contacting guys who have installed Dana 80's (Dually rear end) in their trucks for pulling purposes.
