The fires are catching back up to you for killing their family, I would have probably let it smoke more then well you know. Wait you do have insurance right? There will already ba a lot of damage to the harness and that can add up. It's really hard to say that you'd let it burn but it's easy to think it.
Good luck, first try to figure out what caused it. no sense in replacing all the parts to see them melt again.
