My truck caught on fire!!

Saturday night I was at a buddies house and prior to parking my truck I had gotten on the brakes really hard. Well after that the Abs light came on and then when I cut it off and got out I heard a humming noise that sounded like small motor running coming from around the front drivers side of the engine compartment. I said to myself that isn't normal but i figured it may go off. I came back ab 15 min later and whatever it was was still running and I also cranked the truck to see if the problem had reset but it hadnt and the abs light was still coming on. I started to try to find and pull the fuse then but unfortunately i didn't. It sat for about another hour until we got ready to go to the store. I opened the door and smoke came rolling out of the cab and it smelled like wires burning something awful. I looked and the lights on the instrument panel were on as if the key were in it turned to the on position and the heater fan was getting power and blowing air (I think that is how the smoke got in the cab). I then popped the hood and seen smoke coming up from around the front of the driver side battery area. We got it out and have been looking but have yet to find what actually burned. BTW the little silver thing behind the driver side headlight with hard hoses coming out of the top was warm to the touch after sitting for an hour or more. The next morning I hooked the batts back up and the instrument lights and stuff are still coming on by themselves. I then cranked the truck and it started so I drove it. Also the speedometer doesn't work, and Holding the accelorator to the floor it wouldn't get over what felt like about 55 or 60... so please help, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
