The dual rear wheel(DRW)trucks use the Dana80 axle, most are 4.10 ratio, with a 4"axle tube.To go from a SRW to DRW you'll need new ubolts and top plates as well as the outer bed wheel fender extensions..best bet is to find a wrecked DRW truck and buy a rear frame clip so you get all the brackets, springs, hangers, driveshaft setup and such for the swop.If I were you,I'd avoid the F450,the axle gear ratio is 4.88 and will kill your mileage,as well as it runs the (19.5") bigger tires that are more expensive.I'd avoid the dual wheel adapters like the plague,a dual wheel axle puts the wheel hub farther out between the wheels, supporting the load;the conversion kits don't and put too much stress on the axle bearings in terms of outhung load.I have a F350 DRW PSD and it'l tow anything you need..and does 15Klbs with me frequently.
