All injectors are fed by a single rail. Well, on the CR Cummins, its a single rail feeding fuel to 6 injectors, via a high pressure injection pump; a Bosch CP3. On the Duramax, and 6.4, there are actually two rails, one feeding each bank of the engine, being as both are V8s. So on each side of the engine, four injectors are being fed by the single rail, again via the high pressure Bosch CP3...the injectors are fired electronically.
Whereas earlier designs (like the 12 and 24 valve Cummins) typically had a dedicated fuel line running from the injection pump to each injector; in the case of the Cummins, 6 lines for 6 injectors
