2000 F-250 straight pipe question- new to PS
Hey all! So I have been lurking for awhile and finally decided to post. I love what I see here so far! I just got a powerstroke and while not new to diesel I am new to powerstrokes. I have a zoodad mod, running a flashpaq by superchips with the perf tow tune and I want to open up the exhaust. I keep getting estimates of 80+ bucks to put in a straight pipe around here and I know I can do it myself buying good clamps and all for less than that. I don't want to do the flex pipe option, I'd rather use solid pipe. How can I do this? I have seen muffler delete pipes online but I seem to remember reading that you can take the clamp off that is just in front of the muffler and after cutting the muffler off turn the pipe so it bends upward, tighten the clamp back down and you can use a straight piece of pipe between the cutoff tailpipe and the rest of the exhaust. Does anyone know if this works, does it work well? If not, what suggestions do you have? Lastly, is it going to create a drone in my cab? It's a crew cab long bed. I want it louder outside and breathe better, but I don't want it really loud in the cab. Eventually I will put full magnaflow 4" on it with a 3 1/2 down pipe. I got 18.2 mpg hand calc my first full tank with the superchips, using the A/C and having some fun. Love it! Is this average?
Thanks in advance!
