My 2004 does exactly the same thing and the freon has been checked by Ford. I suspect that what's been happening - - when running highway, there is enough air flow in the engine compartment to keep things "cool". But when you stop and the heat of that diesel stays under that hood, it gets robs the a/c of capacity. I was considering the purchase of some additional heat shields to place around the fan, evaporator, etc.
