Drill a 2 inch hole about 3 inches into the log. Then take a piece of tin foil ball it up. Place it in the hole. Then take two spikes and hammer them in on a 45 degree angle so they come through the hole.
When the coon finds the tin foil it will grab it and not let go. How this works is the coon can get his paw into the hole when it is an open paw. But when it grabs the tin foil it will have a fist and not be able to get its paw back out of the hole. The coon will not let go of that tin foil. The next day check the trap and be carrying a 22 rifle with you. Because when you find that coon with his paw stuck in the hole. You can just shoot him and when you do that he will let go of the tin foil and you will be able to get him free from the trap.
One tin foil ball is good for about a week.
