I have a '03 - she was puking, hesitating, belching black smoke - horrible - I unplugged the EGR and all my problems went away. I researched it on here and seemed the right thing to do. All problems went away.
I would be sitting at a light, hit the go pedal and steady puking black smoke - felt like she was choking and dying, would barely move! Terrible when it starts happening right in the middle of an intersection! Could barely get it out of the way of oncoming traffic. Scared me a few times - thought for sure I would be toast.
Unplugged that EGR and WOW - no more problems. Hmmm, imagine that. No longer pumping black exhaust back through my engine as fresh air (go figure) and my engine is happier and runs better. Hmmph.
