89 diesel. i need help!!!
for some reason all the fuel in the front tank is going to the rear tank. then it quits running. crank it over a bunch of times and it fires up and will run at idle for about 15 minutes and dies. this is runnin it on the front tank. switch it to the rear and still has same problem, even though there is fuel running out the neck of the rear tank. i need help! badly....... thanks Joe.

Fuel problem
If you have an extra set of hands, try switching to the rear tank and crank it over while you hold the shrader valve open up by the fuel filter. If you get fuel there, crack the line at the back of the injection pump and make sure you have fuel there also.
Depending on the style of fuel selector valve you have on the frame rail, that very well could be the problem. |

Fuel Switch
Bockhold, i think you were right on the money.
I looked at my tank selector valve on my 92 and I agree that it is probably the culprit in this case. It is probably sticking inbetween positions and allowing fuel to be pulled from the front tank and returned to the rear only. The selector valve runs both the draft and return side to each tank. |
