Transmission swap question

got a question that i cant find anywhere else. hope somebody on here may be able to help. i may not be looking hard enough but i cant find it. ive got a 93 f-350 4x4, 460ci gas, e40d auto. i got a good 7.3 idi id like to swap in but dont know about the transmission. will it fit? are te internals, ratios, valves different. i think the gas shifts at higher rpm, maybe my right foot, i dont know. id really like to not buy a transmission. thanks for any help.

Umm, how are you going to control the trans? will it not need the pcm?

i was wondering that to but the trans behind the diesel right know i think is an e40d. im not sure. anybody know how the auto trans behind a diesel is controled? i would swap it to but its out of a 2wd and is junk anyway. i would just swap in a 5 speed but its my grandfathers truck and he just dontwant to shift gears. he said at 74 hes tired of shiftin.

If it is an E4OD it's computer controlled. It could be a C6, that's vacuum controlled. The C6 has a vacuum cannister on the right side of the trans. It has a vacuum line that goes to the intake manifold.

Your bigger problem is that the bolt pattern on the 460 and the diesel are different. The trans won't bolt up, and the bellhousing is not removeable.

ahh. yeah that would be a bigger problem. thanks for the info. guess ill put that idea on the back burner for a while.
