first deisel

I am thinking of buying a 7.3l deisel idi E350 minibus I am converting to go on a missions to Central America. It took awhile to start with some starter fluid It started with alot of white smoke at first. Then it ran fine. started again no problems. After about 4 hrs I started it again, and it smoked again at first, a little rough ideling at first, but then it was fine. It has 210k miles on it, is this alot? What kind of mileage can I expect. Worse case scenario. My first thought of buying a deisel, and I'm excited bout it, but don't know much about them. Is this a good idea? Thanks guys Peace & Grace Doug

210k is just getting broke in good if it has been taken care of. See if you can get it scanned.
